There was very little if any character development in this story (and there were only three characters to speak of).I often find myself damning Harry Potter and Percy Jackson as much as I love them it makes life hard for other fictional characters to even try to compete. When I started the book I didn't realize it was part of a series. I would encourage all children to read this book...and to invite Bryan to your school! All of my students LOVED this book...and thought Bryan was the most awesome author ever! I also like how Bryan Chick starts out giving you a very tiny hint and then starts the actual story from a point a month later.
