An elegantly set up dark pyscho-sexual melodrama ... that just left me unmoved. Before I watched it, I read some of the one-star reviews and then the full, detailed plot on Wikipedia.

The main characters are engaging and you feel for them in different ways throughout the film. The Skin I Live In. Frankenstein Meets A Clockwork Orange (Possible Spoiler)

Banderas is fantastic as the brooding doctor, whilst Anaya is a knockout.

"The skin I live in" is extremely well made and very watchable in my opinion, and the plot although stretching reality, is in this day and age very plausible, even if it wasn't the twists and turns are enough to draw you in. A surreal, slightly disturbing and immensely captivating masterpiece. But it is a very good film (I would call it a horror) and the acting is excellent - the characters were thoroughly believable throughout. Whatever your concerns about the plausibility of La piel que habito (2011), you can't fault Almodovar for imagination, variety, boldness; for searching out subjects that are topical, dramatic, intriguing and nicely controversial. I just now finished watching The Skin I Live In the second time. The film is entirely in Spanish with subtitles, but because the story is so absorbing, you quickly forget the subtitles. I definitely found it weird and creepy, with quite a bizarre storyline.

Intriguing thriller with a twisted end. I definitely found it weird and creepy, with quite a bizarre storyline. And NEVER read the Wikipedia plot before you watch any movie on the face of the earth. As usual Pedro Almodovar does not dissapoint in bringing untried ideas that makes his films unforgettable.Watch with caution. The movie itself is a bit 'Silence of the Lambs' for the creepy aspect. This movie will keep you in suspense.

Waaay darker than I anticipated & I didn’t see the end coming! I think it lent to the setting and characters.
