such as But when are they all likely to be going ahead, and will they be behind closed doors or not?Premier Sports have confirmed they will exclusively broadcast Celtic and Rangers' pre-season games this month.Steven Gerrard's men will then face Nice on Saturday, July 18 at 5.15pm.Celtic will close out the tournament against the hosts at 7.45pm the same evening. While they will also broadcast the Hoops' glamour friendly against PSG in Paris at 6pm on Tuesday, July 21.They also hold exclusive rights to show Rangers' pre-season clash with The SPFL have already unveiled the top flight's fixtures for next season - predicated on an August 1 start. Those dates can now be firmed up a little on the calendar after sports minister Joe Fitzpatrick confirmed that our top flight clubs had formal government approval for that start. The only curve ball which could be introduced into the proceedings would be if Hearts and Partick win their SFA arbitration case, or if the Court of Session intervenes for any reason. As it stands, Rangers have an evening kick-off at Pittodrie scheduled for the first day of the season, with the Parkhead side unfurling the flag in front of the Sky cameras and their virtual season ticket holders the following day. While the government has given its approval for test events, they say clubs shouldn't expect to have fans in grounds any time soon.It is anyone's guess whether crowds will be able to return in October.Agreement has been reached for all three of Scotland's other divisions to get their campaign off and running on the same day as the season's first Old Firm match. It is a scheduling conflict which hasn't gone down well with certain lower division clubs - such as Stenhousemuir chairman Ian McMeneny. While lower division fixtures have yet to be published, they will forego one set of fixtures to play a 27-match schedule.THE SPFL are set to announce further details of their cup competition next week. While they gave all clubs the chance to opt out of the competition, SunSport understands that all of Scotland's senior clubs are likely to take part. With the entire competition usually played to a finish by the start of December, fitting it into the congested fixture calendar is another story. However the tournament is likely to proceed on the same format as previous years - and is scheduled to start during the October international break. That is three months after its originally-planned start date on July 11.Although Scotland's European participants don't enter the competition until the knockout phase, that will mean the competition isn't decided until 2021.SPFL secretary Iain Blair said recently: “Due to fixture congestion, there’s no possibility we can have the final before Christmas, as has been the case the last few years.Four teams live on into the semi-finals of Scotland's oldest cup competition.Celtic take on Aberdeen in one of the last four ties, and an Edinburgh derby in the other.Parkhead supporters will be particularly keen to see this played to a finish, as it could provide them with a remarkable quadruple treble. And the good news for them is that the SFA are determined to get the competition played to a finish. The governing body will hope that supporters will be back in stadiums when they attempt to get it completed before the 2020-21 competition gets under way in earnest. The fate of next season's Challenge Cup has yet to be decided, with the SPFL currently in discussions with clubs. They are also speaking to Inverness and Raith Rovers about rescheduling last season's final.Rangers learned today that they will face either Inter Milan or Getafe if they can record what would be a famous result and overturn a 3-1 deficit on Bayer Leverkusen on German soil on August 5/6.While that seems a well nigh impossible task, the reward would be a series of one-off ties starting with either the Italians or the Spaniards - also on neutral ground in Germany.Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Motherwell are all due to enter European qualifiers in the next few months. These will be like no qualifying ties previously witnessed - a series of one-off ties with the home side determined by a draw.Uefa also confirmed this week that all matches will be played behind closed doors - in the interests of fairness.Celtic are scheduled to get into action on 18/19 August, with further matches on the 25/26 August, 15/16 September should they get through. There then follows a two-legged play-off round on the 22nd and 30th of September with a view to the Group Stage getting under way on October 20.All Europa League ties will be one-legged affairs behind closed doors, with home teams settled on the basis of the draw.Aberdeen and Motherwell enter at the first qualifying round stage on the 27th of August with Rangers joining them from the second qualifying round onwards from September 17.The third qualifying round falls on September 24 before a one-off shootout for a spot in the group stages on October 1.We shouldn't forget that the global coronavirus pandemic stopped Scotland's Euro 2020 play-off against Israel in its tracks, not to mention the finals itself.Happily Hampden Park will still get to host matches in the continental showpiece next summer and first Steve Clarke's side gets the chance to play their way there.Their Euro play-off semi-final against Israel at Hampden will now fall on October 8, just over a month after we have a phoney war against the Israelis in the Nations League on September 4.The potential Euro play-off decider against Norway or Serbia away is on November 11/12.With three games squeezed into international weeks for the first time, our other Nations League ties see us visit the Czech Republic on September 7, host Slovakia and the Czechs on October 11 and 14, then visit Slovakia and Israel on the 15th and 18th of November. Ten-man Celtic survived a Rangers onslaught - including a missed penalty - to clinch their fourth Scottish League Cup in a row and 10th consecutive domestic trophy.

St Johnstone and Dundee United drew 1-1 on the Premiership's opening day this season. We would hope to have these fixtures and details of our league matches in the next few weeks.”That means Celtic may not have a Second Round fixture until late October or even November, which is a month when the semi-finals are usually played. This could all cause problems with our potential European schedule as UEFA are hoping to cram all Champions and Europa League group matches into a window from 20th October to early December.Obviously it’s a very tricky situation for for the SPFL to navigate but hopefully sensible solutions can be found and there is communication on the issue as soon as possible.Celtic celebrate winning the Scottish League Cup / (Photo by Michael Steele/Getty Images)The League Cup is seen as the lesser of the three domestic competitions that Celtic compete for but having won the trophy as part of trebles over the last few seasons, Lennon and his team clearly still care about lifting it.Last year we beat Rangers in a nerve-wracking Hampden final, which was the springboard for greater domestic success. We’ll be giving it all to defend that crown, whenever the matches are played. The Scottish Cup could be cut from 112 to 52 teams as the Scottish FA consults with clubs on a streamlined competition for season 2020-21.
