Sony is infamous for basically pulling the monkey see monkey do tactic. Posted by 1 year ago. So last year I saw a trailer for a new James Gunn movie from Sony and Screen Gem called Brightburn, The movie asks the question what if when Superman came to earth instead of him being the world’s greatest hero he became our most sinister threat. He said something about a witch and half man and half fish, do you think some Justice League-inspired characters started to pop up?I didnt see the movie, but i dont really care about spoilers. . Brightburn, a new superhero horror movie from director David Yarovesky and producer James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), reimagines Superman’s story … With Marvel they were like “Hey the MCU is pretty popular, Let’s try doing that with the Amazing Spider-man” and “Hey Lego Movie was pretty good, Let’s try doing that but with Emojis” so it wouldn’t really surprise me if they saw Split and the trailer for New Mutants and were like “Hey Superhero horror films are starting to become popular, Let’s do that” I’m not saying Brightburn is going to be bad (it’s really 50/50 because while it’s a cool concept this is Sony we are talking about) I’m just saying there is a pattern. Now for the other reason why I think Sony is taking notes from M. Night for Brightburn will contain spoilers from Split so you have been warned. . That being said what intrigues me the most though is that this is coming out right around the time M. Night’s third film in his Unbreakable/Split/Glass trilogy is coming out…That of course being Glass. Then the third and final film would be Brightburn kid and the Tech kid going 1v1.Hmm, pretty interesting I must say. Film Theory. While the idea of an Evil Superman has already been done before in comics, Video Games, and even in that Nightmare sequence in BVS, But this one is alittle different because NOT only is not the actual Superman we know and love (as in it’s not the actual character it’s just a character based off Superman) but also it’s taking the horror angle with it (because an alien who grows up on earth as a human can be a scary concept) and also it seems to be looking at what Superman would become if he was raised in present day, with kids these days being anti-social and all so this does look interesting. I assume by your comment they setup some sort of original superhero/supervillain universe?Basically, the movie is set in the same universe as James Gunn’s Super (starring Rainn Wilson)New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castWelcome to /r/FanTheories!
