Interview With God is not the average Spiritual/Christian movie as it does not have many religious fundamental overtones, nor is it Holier-Than-Thou- preachy. 36 out of 55 found this helpful.

I loved The Shack which wasn't perfect either but it came much closer than this movie. The movie establishes that it wants everyone, regardless of believers and/or non-believers, to watch this movie by having the interviewer ask God about Atheist's being moral. The movie deals with waning Faith, loss of Hope, Love is going away, and that Life is not a proving ground for Salvation. From there on it starts out interesting. Was this review helpful? The film follows journalist Paul Asher, who has just covered the war in Afghanistan, ending up with some of the best stories of his young career. It starts with a common thread and soon blossoms into a thought provoking masterpiece. Enjoyed watching it. He wasn't silly like George Burns or Morgan Freeman. We didn't know anything about this film but we were going through a list at Netflix. I would have preferred some time (with a little music) to contemplate the movie themes, followed perhaps by some suggested discussion questions that groups could use as a starting point for sharing their reactions. The rest of the movie involves Paul talking to his wife, his newspaper boss, and a mistress. An Interview With God challenges audiences to look beyond the surface and to question what faith truly is. The back story is extremely limited.

Brenton Thwaites clears his name a little performance wise and shows that he's capable of more than what he's been offered in the past.
