While this material isn't necessarily up to the standards of Kurosawa's best work, it does warrant at least a look. A disgraced samurai, Fusanosuke, rushes in the brothel seeking for a refuge, because he had wounded a powerful samurai.
In this worthy adaptation of the Japanese film This has become one of my all time favorite films. A drifting gunslinger-for-hire finds himself in the middle of an ongoing war between the Irish and Italian mafia in a Prohibition era ghost town. During a downpour, a generous ronin and his supporting wife are stranded at a country inn. sad and compelling, yet laced with an underlying message of dignity and hope. That link is also the main reason to see it.

| Romance It may have some strong similarities to Mizoguchi's "Streets of Shame" in 1956 but I thought it was a very good film despite some missed opportunities in fleshing out the parallels of its main … The ronin comes to the attention of a lord who wants to hire him as an instructor for his men, who treat the ronin with disrespect.
