The found-footage genre has been abused so many times since The Blair Witch Project's surprise success, I think the only reason that it was used in The Last Exorcism was to bring in the money. Ultimately comes across as a bizarre coupling of This is Spinal Tap and Rosemary's Baby. The Last Exorcism avoids many of the tropes of the horror genre and presents a uniquely compelling vision that's full of intrigue.
