But he finds the idea of family scandal preventing his marriage ridiculous and intends to go through it, even in chanted when the newly divorced woman (Irene Dunne) arrives with the feisty family matriarch (Helen Westley) and proves herself to be a woman of grace and dignity.

Lionel Atwill is hardly realistic as the other love interest -- was there no one else in Hollywood that could have played this role? The acting in this film was of the old school: corny and stiff. The acting (apart from some serious over-melodramatic acting from John Boles) was good and the entire production looked marvelous.
