The fifth movie, however...it's great to see the same characters again, and I was looking forward to finally having some closure on the series.

You aren't sure what is real (which is the point), but if what they want you to believe is real, then none of the movies mattered. The editing is some of the best I have seen in any movie.
I ignorantly thought Harry Potter was the first to showcase a moving photo but I didn't realize that Phantasm had that technology down back in 1979. The cinematography is superb for the budget.
