The win all but sees the Panthers lock up a home game in the first week of finals.The Penrith Panthers overcame two first half sin binnings to hang on for a 22-16 win against the Melbourne Storm.The loss for the Storm makes the race for the minor premiership interesting with the Roosters able to snatch the top spot with a 26-point win over the Eels tomorrow night.The Panthers made it a harder assignment than it needed to be, missing five conversions to hang on for the six-point win, despite outscoring the Storm five tries to two.The Storm had conceded 18 straight points in the second half to fall behind by 12.The Panthers had a sparkling runs of tries through the second half.Down 10-6 at half-time, Penrith drew level early in the second half.Quick hands brought the Panthers level to start the second half after Waqa Blake was put away down the left edge before sending Josh Mansour over in the corner.Waqa Blake claimed a double, pouncing on a bouncing ball in the ingoal.A cross-field kick from James Maloney went through a Storm winger Justin Olam’s hands and bobbled on the ground with the Penrith centre diving on.Nathan Cleary putting on a third kick after the ball was charged down and soccered along the ground, finding Blake for his second.Minutes later, Panther winger Cameron Crichton took an intercept near halfway and streaked away for a 22-10 lead.Scott Drinkwater have given the Storm a chance to hang on to the minor premiership with the debutant halfback scoring but it was too little too late.A try saver from Nathan Cleary shutdown a later foray by the Storm.The win puts the Panthers in the box seat for a home elimination final next week.The Penrith Panthers are in the bad books tonight with two players being sin binned in the first half against the Melbourne Storm.Josh Mansour was the first sent to the bin.
