This guy is killing off people that were connected to selling off Canadian hockey teams to the U.S. At least the guy has some motivations for his actions, but that's REALLY what they chose to go with? There's a sequel coming out this year and I wouldn't mind seeing it.

Two Canadian detectives, one from Ontario and the other from Quebec, must work together when a murdered victim is found on the Ontario Quebec border line. I also liked the fact that the movie switched between French and English dialogue. If not, you should definitely stay clear of the film, because knowing that bon is French for "good", and "good cop, bad cop" is a stock phrase in English is the absolute basement-level knowledge you'd need to be able to deal with the movie. The villain isn't treated super seriously, but it's not like they crack jokes about him either.

They need to exist as much as the complex drama with believable characters. Was this review helpful to you?

[font=Century Gothic]"Bon Cop, Bad Cop" feels like a pilot for a television series and not a good one at that with little sympathy given to the victims. | Published on Mar 27, 2020 comedy - thriller buddy cop film about two police officers – one Ontarian and one Québécois – who reluctantly join forces to solve a murder. If you want want a movie that pokes fun at the genre's tropes and subverts them, then watch Hot Fuzz. Not a bad movie, there's some entertainment to be had here, but there's nothing that you should go out of your way to see. Bon Cop, Bad Cop, a rare Canadian venture into straightforward commercialism, manages to work well as both light entertainment and running commentary on the culture clash between the English and French Canadas. With a great cast and a good story, this is a very funny film that has plenty of effective laughs that make this film better than most Hollywood-esque buddy cop films. In fact, the only thing they appear to have in common is that they are both cops, albeit cops with totally different styles. Get the freshest reviews, news, and more delivered right to your inbox! Cinemark There's nothing wrong with that, that's not an insult. Chadwick Boseman Brought Black History and Power to Life In Ways That Will Inspire For Generations The movie, as I mentioned earlier, plays exactly how you would expect. Talk about stupid and they don't even use it as a point of comedy.

But, as I said, there's no legitimate character development from either Bouchard or Ward, so that makes caring a little difficult at times.

(I kind of like the idea of living in a bilingual country, myself.) But I think the leads, Patrick Huard and Colm Feore, are good in their roles to make the movie far more watchable than it would have been without them. When a rich businessman comes in, everything changed.

When the body of the executive of hockey Benoit Brisset is found on the billboard of the border of Quebec and Ontario, the jurisdiction of the crime is shared between the two police forces and detectives David Bouchard from Montreal and Martin Ward from Toronto are assigned to work together. Inspired, the villagers devise a scheme to make Dr. Christopher Lewis a local.

Not that I feel the movie NEEDS a sequel, it really doesn't need it, but Colm Feore and Patrick Huard are good enough that I wouldn't mind seeing them together in this setting again. Their first lead is a helicopter pilot named Luc Therrien(Sylvain Marcel). [font=Century Gothic]In "Bon Cop, Bad Cop," the body of Benoit Brisset(Andre Robitaille) is found on the border of Ontario and Quebec and neither police force wants anything to do with it.

Its good-hearted probing of Canada's social and cultural balancing act likely will do more to promote harmony in Canada than a whole raft of political speeches.

And they are about to work together as a team. officer and an anglophone O.P.P officer reunite to investigate a large car theft ring led by an Italian mobster. March 15, 2007

I'm just hoping that the movie is more consistently entertaining (AND HAS A BETTER VILLAIN) than this one. | If you're looking for a great comedy, then give this one a shot. A francophone S.Q. Ward is uptight while Bouchard plays fast and freely with the rules.

This is a very unique twist on the buddy cop genre, and one worth watching. View All Photos (5)
