I found this book at Booksale, and knew without a doubt that I should take it home with me. This may indeed work on children and the very naive, and on those who were predisposed by childhood training to accept Christianity as favorable, but not on me. This is a great resource for new believers or agnostics and I think it's wise to know, as a believer, where they're coming from so we can better speak to their doubts and concerns. He cleared the way to God “by being the first to rise from the dead” (Acts 26:23)!Have you trusted in Jesus Christ as your Savior? No other document has as much evidence to confirm its reliability.” By quoting fellow believers Mr McDowell is merely, as they say, "Preaching to the choir." I didn't even want to talk to the guy, but he asked me to take the book.
And I ended up highlighting about half the book...This is one of those books I read with a highlighter handy. This is a must read for everyone, you don't have to be a believer to read it.This book takes a rather slapdash approach to apologetics, and commits some grievous errors in argumentation. They then created stories about Jesus which would fulfill, what they believed, were prophesies. That book was much more comprehensive than this one. Those two positive factors are the only thing that keep this book from being one or one and a half stars.As a former hardened cynic, this book changed my life. For instance, the author falls into the silly modern contrivance of insisting that Christianity isn't a religion, in order to dump any negativity onto his customized definition of religion and preserve the 'pure' character of his supposed personal relationship with god.The heart of this book is that either Jesus was who He said he was (Son of God, single path to God) or he was crazy or lying. The author set out to disprove Jesus existed and in doing so he realized not only did he actually exist but he was “more than just a carpenter.” Solid little booklet arguing the truth and historicity of Jesus and the Bible.
